Sania Mirza – The Right Combination for Controversies

Now that Sania has made the inevitable decision (of not to play in India) the Tekhedars (contractors) of religiousness and patriotism (did I say fundamentalists and publicity seekers?) can now rest at peace. As far as the journalists are concerned it’s yet another Item Number to keep their TRPs and circulation intact. (Don’t miss, you will get to see more of Mini skirts and tight tees to see – after all they have the responsibility to get you the Background).

Sania on the other hand should start living with reality. She has all the elements of making news for every possible reason. She is young and beautiful, she is in a sport that has a bit of glamour to it always, she is single and she belongs to Minority. The combination of the first and last reasons feed enough to the likes of people who wait on the wings to piggy back on someone to hog the limelight. Nobody cared a damn of what the erstwhile golden girl of India P.T.Usha or Anju Bobby George wore.

Even if Sania takes a cue from P.T.Usha and starts posing for some brand of Tea, and starts running around the tea gardens, we may still have some environmentalist group, owing allegiance to some political group or family, may come with an objection of stamping through the greeneries and killing a few ants and insects in the process. That’s Indian polity. Sania will continue to make news even if she plays with a burqua on.

Probably one way to avoid is to settle in some ‘phoren’ country and go on to win some of the grand slams. We as proud Indians would then clamor for some share, of the credit of her brand, calling her the ‘The Indian Born…’
