I got to hear this story from somewhere, but use it quite often in my training programs. The author is unknown for me to give due credit.
This is the story of a Wiseman who had an answer for all questions.
Two children, Surya and Arjun, wanted to test him and fox him with a question that he cannot answer correctly. They got their game plan ready. They decided to go to the Wiseman with a fly in their closed hands and ask if it is dead or alive. If he says 'its dead' they would open their hands and let the fly alive. If the Wiseman says that the fly is alive they will strangle the fly in the closed hands, so that it will die. Either way the Wiseman will be wrong.
With the Plan intact the children went to the wise man with a fly in their closed hands and Surya asked " Wiseman, Wiseman, is the fly in my hand dead or alive?"
The Wiseman looked at them, smiled and answered “It’s all in your hands!!"
Moral of the story:
I live it to you, as how you take it. ‘It’s all in your hands’. But share it here, if you wish, so that others get a leaf of your wisdom.
To me, this story reiterates my stand on taking responsibility. To be able to say ‘The Buck stops here.’
