India you have come a long way because

1. You've established yourself a world leadver in forex reserves
2. You have made the world to take notice of you as the knowledge Hub.
3. You have converted your weakness i.e. population to strength
4. you have brought the world to the drawing rooms of people
5. You delivered one of the greatest, patriotic, truly secular,  visionaries like Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam 

However on the flip side, capitalism is drawing you a long way from the treasure chest of values and Culture. 

You have come a long way(atleast in cities and spreading to the villages) because:

1. Joint families that fostered bonding and tolerance had given way for nuclear families and loneliness
2. Grandmas and grandpas and other relatives who taught human values for free have given way to the mushrooming personlity development institutes and gurus
3. Happiness have given way for competition
4. Contentment and simplicity have given way debt traps
5. Healthy politics have given way for caste based catastrophies
6. Merit has given way for reservation

The list is endless. Your achievements are global but your shortcomings are internal. We as Indians shall strive to preserve our uniqueness and values for in it lies our strength and future,
